Profile Information

Brief Bio
Doc Powell, originally from Atlantic City NJ and one of the main coordinators of the creative activities on those Sundays in Malcolm X Park, rounds out the troupe and acts as the Music Director, producer, and lead drummer for the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers. He also accompanies J. Joy Matthews Alford (known poetically as Sistah Joy) during the monthly poetry Open Mic nights on each 3rd Thursday evening at Annie's Art Gallery at 5814 Allentown Way, Camp Springs, Maryland. Additionally, Doc works at the National Education Association (NEA) located in Washington, DC. Doc has had the opportunity to appear at a wide variety of venues.
